The Chili Fire Department was dispatched just before 12:30AM this morning for a car that lost control on Ballantyne Rd. and struck a pole. The fire crews arrived on location to find a single car with airbags deployed and a utility pole down blocking the road. Service lines from the utility pole were across the road and still connected to two houses which both had electric service still. Taking appropriate precautions, the crews notified the residents of both houses and had them stay inside. Prior to the arrival of first responders, the single occupant of the vehicle had self-extricated safely. The Monroe County Sheriff's provided traffic control, shutting down Ballantyne Rd. in both directions until RG&E was able to arrive on location and render the scene safe.
