FIRST-EVER STATEWIDE UNIFIED FIREFIGHTER RECRUITMENT DAY TO BE HELD ON APRIL 9th & 10th 10:00am till 2:00 pm
Come out to our area fire departments & see what it’s all about.
Collaborating with a first-ever statewide effort to recruit needed volunteer firefighters. The Chili volunteer fire department is opening their doors to area residents, hoping to show prospective new members what it takes to be a volunteer firefighter in their community.
Fire Chief Dave Saur said in a statement: “Over the last several years, it has been very tough for many fire departments throughout New York State to recruit and retain volunteers for a variety of reasons.”
“Like most volunteer fire departments, the Chili Fire Department needs to bolster there emergency preparedness, so they can continue to provide the optimum level of protection.
“Now more than ever, we need more neighbors joining their
respective fire departments.”
On Saturday, April 9th & 10th between 10AM – 2PM, the Chili Fire Department will open their doors joining volunteer fire departments across the state at their respective firehouses for a unified recruitment drive, as part of National Volunteer Week 2011.
“Not only will Recruit NY be an opportunity to highlight the duties and rewards that `come with being a volunteer firefighter – it will also raise public awareness about the need for volunteers,” fire chief Saur stated. “Our hope is that a collaborative effort among volunteer fire departments statewide will turn the declining number of volunteer firefighters around.”
Open houses will be held at the following firehouses:
Chili: Station 1 located at 3231 Chili Ave; Station 2 located at 3310 Union St; Station 3 located at 2856 Chili Ave; and Station 4 located at 15 Circle Dr.
